RaxTrax needed to move away from their aging Flash website. They loved the 'wow' factor that it offered, but wanted a way to be able to edit their content, be mobile friendly, and have a store feature.
I focused on making the interface feel as smooth as possible. Using AJAX and the HTML5 History API, only sections of the page are loaded, while still simulating a complete page load. This dramatically reduces perceived page load time. RaxTrax is built on Rails with a custom admin interface and store feature.
Alex is a friend and professional graphic designer here in Chicago. When he came to me with the design of his website, he wanted three things: seamless navigation between projects and pages, an easy to use CMS, and no raster graphics for the layout.
The site features many unique ways to navigate, including scrolling and arrow keys. The page loads are handled dynamically and use the HTML5 History API and all of the layout graphics are drawn with Raphael.js. The backend is coded in Wordpress.
L.S.D.B is a coworking space in Logan Square that caters to creatives whose aim is to further the creative community in Chicago. They needed a way to show off their space, and allow people to apply to work there.
All of the content is aggregated from Instagram, and the user profiles are aggregated from Twitter. It is a unique site in that it can be updated without having to log in to the Wordpress backend that it is built upon.
Mixxxtapes is a web app that allows you to vote one whose mixtape is better in a "hot or not" manner. It was made in collaboration with the developers at StageBloc.
